Ski Base in Karakol. Modern resort Kyrgyzstan
Karakol ski base is an ideal place not only for professional mountain skiers, but for all people who like winter skiing and snowboading activity.
The bulk of the lift capacity is delivered by four high-speed chair lifts - two 2-seater and two 3-seater chair lifts - most of which are equipped with pull-down leather covers, extending 400m-3500m distance and 100-750m vertical rise (from 2300m above the sea level till 3050m). Access to the ski area is from one base station, which includes car parking for day visitors.
Lift pass prices are not so expensive - approximately 12$ for an adult day pass, reaching the peak of price 19-20$ on New Year holidays. Children have discounts of 20-30%.
Karakol town, 7 km from ski base, offers a huge range of accommodation: from economy hostels for 11-12$ per person per night to the luxury apartments for 50-60$ per night.
There are two main airports in Kyrgystan and Kazakhstan those better to use to get to Karakol. First one is Manas Airport (Bishkek, Kyrgyztsan) within five hours drive and second one is Almaty Airport (Kazakhstan) within eight hours drive by taxi.
While you are in this wonderful area, when you need some rest after skiing and snowboarding, you can spend a couple of days with excursions around: hot thermal springs, museums and memorials, spectacular canyons and local traditional markets, cafes and restaurants. Car hire in Karakol will help you with that.
